Long walks along Ocean Blvd - Myrtle Beach, SC.
Daily walks along Ocean Blvd and the surrounding area.
A local’s visual observation and documentation of an oceanfront street and its inhabitants.
I spend a lot of time in the same places, and the environment slowly opens up as I go out with the intention of noticing my surroundings. I start to witness the life happening around me.
I feel more grounded in reality, and I can connect better with strangers when I’m taking photos. With a camera in my hand, I always have an excuse to interact and meet new people.
I never took much notice of the local cats along Ocean Blvd until I spent more time loitering in the area.
I enjoy visiting them, whether you like it or not, they’re part of the community here.
I grew up here. Many of my childhood memories are from the Pavilion and walking along the Blvd. I’ve moved around and tried to escape Myrtle Beach, but every time, I find myself crawling back home. It's not because I like living here, it's just that nowhere else feels like home to me.
I have grown to love the cheap novelty and plastic tourist traps smeared across the street.
You can exchange tickets at an arcade for various weapons
Zoltar impersonators
There isn’t enough words or photos that could encapsulate the sheer variety that can be found along Ocean Blvd
I could talk a lot of shit about Myrtle Beach, but the humans here make it worth appreciating, and that is my main focus of this series - to document the daily life that happens on this stretch of street and simply witness it through my personal frame of expression.
If you’ve gotten this far, thank you.
I am falling in love with this street every day, and I want to appreciate it for what it is. For its natural beauty and the locals and tourists who make it special, the beach will forever be my home, no matter the next hole I find myself sleeping in.
There is so much more to experience, This is a continuous series.
If you want to help me preserve a small part of Myrtle Beach, I have some prints available below for those who are interested.
